Wedding Planning

Engaging a wedding planner was once a luxury. However these days, for most couples, especially those traveling overseas for a destination wedding, it has become a necessity. Remember that you are in a different country, with a different language, customs, culture and laws to be considered, and you should not place yourself in a position where you need to be worrying about any of this yourselves. Arranging overseas weddings and receptions can be complicated and trying at the best of times, but doing it long distance, can come with many unique challenges. This is especially so if you intend to marry in a private event villa or even a resort hotel.

Hiring a wedding planner to take care of organizing and coordinating your wedding and event will ensure that you are free to spend valuable time with family and friends who have made the trip to Bali for you, rather than be running around trying to tie-up loose ends and making sure everyone involved will in fact, be at the right place at the right time on the day.

We offer a highly personalized, flexible and professional service covering all aspects of this, your most special of days in Bali, and we'll handle everything. We use local vendors who we've worked with for many years who we know to be honest and reliable. Vendors who you could probably never discover yourselves.

When booking a wedding in the grounds of a private villa, it's a requirement that you book an authorized wedding planner to manage the wedding, bearing in mind that the villa manager will only be providing the venue for the wedding, with everything else needing to be provided, delivered and set-up by the wedding planner and her coordination crew. This even stretches to having to bring in a power generator to provide a stand-alone power supply for the event.

Many resort hotels offer in-house staff who act as wedding coordinators but it should be remembered that they work for the hotel, and will have the best interests of the hotel in mind when it comes to booking vendors and making all other necessary arrangements. This might work well for small, straightforward weddings but not for larger events. An independent wedding planner will only be working for you, and will have your best interests in heart by using their local knowledge and experience, a move that will definitely save you money in the long run.

All our wedding packages include free, in-house wedding planning services from our specialist team.

Wedding Services

Ceremonies

When it comes to ceremonies, your options are full legal religious, non-legal commitment, non-legal vow renewal and Balinese blessing.

Full Legal Ceremonies

If you’re looking at getting legally married in Bali, you’ll both need to state that you belong to one of the five religions recognized in Indonesia, which are Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist, with Protestant being the most popular and easiest choice. Catholic weddings need to take place inside a Catholic Church for it to be recognized by that body. Legal formalities for foreign citizens:- Documentation Requirements: What the Civil Registry Office in Bali require is a legally binding document stating that you’re both free to marry. This document is typically known as a Certificate of No Impediment to Marry (CNI). Depending on your countries of citizenship, this document can usually be obtained by appointment from the Embassy or Consulate of your home country which, if located in Bali, we will book for you as a part of our service, along with providing a courier service. The cost of the CNI is payable direct to the Embassy. Our legal Protestant wedding package includes document processing, the attendance of a Protestant Church Minister at the ceremony + a marriage certificate issued by the Protestant Church, the attendance of a Civil Registrar + a civil marriage certificate, a pre-wedding meeting and the attendance of a specialist ceremony coordinator at the ceremony. Package exclusions ate the cost of the CNI as discussed above and the document translation services discussed below. In order to register a Protestant wedding, we’ll require the following scanned documents in advance to pass on to the Civil Registry Office in the banjar where the ceremony is to take place:- 1 - Copies of both birth certificates, 2 - Copies of any divorce or death certificates relating to any past marriages, 3 - Copies of the details pages of both passports, 4 - Copies of the details pages of two independent witnesses (who cannot be family members). Birth, divorce and death certificates will need to be translated into Bahasa by an official translator. Baptism certificates will usually only be required for Catholic ceremonies. The original documents should be taken to Bali with you in case they’re needed. Eight 4 x 6 cm photographs of the couple in the same photo are also required, but it's best to arrange this in Bali. The photos must be of the head and shoulders only with the couple standing side by side, looking straight ahead and with a red background. The groom must be on the right side of bride. These photos will be attached to the wedding certificate. In a nutshell, this is the process. Once you have your CNI, we’ll deliver the translated copy to the Civil Registry Office in the province where the ceremony will take place, and arrange for a Civil Registrar to attend the ceremony. Typically, a legal wedding in Indonesia consists of two ceremonies that follow each other, with the first being a religious ceremony conducted by the Protestant Church Minister and the second a civil ceremony conducted by the Civil Registrar. Actually, in many cases the Civil Registrar doesn’t speak but he needs to be there to witness the religious ceremony. After the ceremony, you’ll receive two signed marriage certificates, one issued by the Protestant Church and the other issued by the Civil Registry Office, which is the legalizing document. The religious ceremony doesn’t necessarily need to be overly religious in content, with our ceremonies following along similar lines to a typical Western civil ceremony. As you can see, there are procedures that need to be followed. If you feel the above is too onerous for you, your other option would be to book a non-legal commitment ceremonies and arrange your legal paperwork in your home country.

Non-Legal Commitment / Vow Renewal Ceremonies

Our commitment and vow renewal ceremonies have all the trappings of a legal wedding but without the legal paperwork. Because they're not legally binding, they're usually conducted by a local celebrant dressed in Balinese wedding attire. These ceremonies are popular for couples wishing to commit their futures to each other, renew their vows and couples who would prefer to sort the legal side out in their home country prior to coming to Bali, so that it’s all done and they can relax and enjoy their wedding without any hassles. This type of ceremony can usually be a lot easier to arrange, as discussed below:– 1 – No paperwork required. With a legal ceremony, we require a few documents as discussed above. With a commitment ceremony, none documentation is required, meaning you just show up on the day and enjoy! 2 – No running around prior to the wedding. In addition to the paperwork, You usually suggest that the couple arrive in Bali 3-4 business days prior to the wedding day so we can organize a courier service to take you to the Embassy / Consulate of your home country to obtain your CNI and have your photos taken for the certificate. 3 – No extra fees. With a legal wedding in Bali, additional fees are required to cover the cost of the Certificate of No Impediment (CNI), along with cost of document translation services. 4 – There's only one ceremony. As mentioned above, a legal wedding ceremony in Bali effectively requires two separate ceremonies, one religious and a second one civil. With a commitment ceremony, you only have one ceremony and once it’s done, you can celebrate! What this means for you is we can still arrange a complete legal wedding, but you can do the legal side back home and then have your non-legal wedding and party in Bali.

Balinese Blessing Ceremonies

A non-legal Balinese Blessing Ceremony is for couples who wish to embrace Hinduism and experience a spiritual ceremony with Balinese traditions like the purification of body and soul, and the welcoming of good spirits. The ceremony includes some traditional Balinese offerings and is rich in symbolism and philosophy. The ceremony is conducted by a Hindu Priest (called Pemangku in the Balinese language), with our assistance in English. The bride and groom can dress in traditional Balinese wedding attire which we can provide, although this is not a specific requirement.

Decorations & Flowers

A wedding is an important day for any couple, and especially for the bride. Couples can spend hours and hours thinking of what their wedding should look like ... the colours, the themes, and the decorations they want. A lot of time goes into planning the entrance, the sitting engagement, and other minutest details.

Decorations and flowers are one of the main services we provide. What couples usually do is to send us a Mood Board showing the atmosphere they'd like to have created, and we'll copy it for them. We'd usually have a florist available on the day to make last-minute alterations.

Here's a few decoration ideas.

Wedding Arches & Pergolas

A wedding arch or pergola is a customizable ceremony focal point that typically features tropical flowers, bamboo, or rustic wood, styled to match your wedding theme and venue. Rustic wooden pergolas and sturdy timber structures, typically white and decorated with cascading tropical flowers or roses. Circle arches are popular, being minimalist metal frames adorned with asymmetrical floral arrangements, ideal for clifftop modern weddings.

Bouquets & Boutonneres

Bali wedding bouquets should embrace the island's natural tropical beauty, while withstanding the warm climate. Popular ideas include pairing white Phalaenopsis orchids or classic roses with lush, textured local foliage like monstera leaves, dried palms, and anthuriums. Incorporating baby's breath into the design is always a popular addition. Classic white & lush foliage are timeless and elegant ideas set against Bali's ocean or jungle backdrops, maybe combining white phalaenopsis orchids, roses and baby's breath with oversized monstera leaves. Embrace the island’s vibrant palette with splashes of colour like vivid orchids, birds of paradise, or bright pink bougainvillea or choose a teardrop or cascading silhouette featuring calla lilies, white plumeria (frangipani) and orchids.

Hair & Make-Up

Hair and make-up directly reflects your image, so it's important to get it right.

Due to Bali's tropical heat and humidity, the best looks are lightweight, breathable and frizz-proof. Perhaps consider airbrush foundation, waterproof eye makeup, secure updos or braided half-up styles to keep you radiant and comfortable from the ceremony through the reception to noise curfew. Popular and practical bridal styles include: 1 - A sleek or textured low bun that keeps hair entirely off your neck, perfect for combating humidity during outdoor ceremonies. 2 - Combine soft waves with loose braids. This allows you to show off your hair length while securing the front pieces away from your face. 3 - Enhance your hair with a few local blooms. Ask your planner if she can provide frangipanis, white orchids or baby's breath to weave into your hair. 4 - Fine hair can struggle in tropical climates. Consider clip-in extensions to add volume and to ensure that your styling holds all day. Make-up Ideas: 1 - Heavy foundation can melt in the Bali heat and humidity, so consider creating breathable, glowing, sun-kissed skin with a luminous finish. 2 - Airbrushing is suggested for durability. It feels feather-light and resists fading, creasing and perspiration. 3 - Since Bali breezes can make lip gloss sticky, consider keeping the lip color matte or use a lip stain. 4 - Use waterproof mascara and individual lash extensions for a dramatic look that won't smudge. 4 - Keep a small touch-up kit in purse, including a lip stain, face/setting mist and a small hairspray can. 5 - Humidity reacts differently to every hair type, so consider arranging a hair and make-up trial with your artist a few days before the date. 6 - The island based stylists we work with know exactly which waterproof, high-end products withstand tropical conditions.

Suggestions One The Day. Everyone should be showered and ready to receive services, with hair washed the night before or that morning with a clean face when the make-up team arrives. Ensure that there's no residual make-up. Suggest you use an oil based make-up remover to get off old eyeliner & waterproof mascara and make sure that you don't have any tinted moisturizer, powders, concealers or any sort of product on your face which can hinder the make-up application. If you have dry skin, a light, non oily/non greasy moisturizer is usually fine, if necessary. Our stylists use make-up primers which assist in the longevity of the make-up, but they cannot ensure their performance if they are no applied to clean skin. Having everyone showered and ready in the preparation room prior to our arrival is important. Consider ordering lunch beforehand, even if nobody is hungry. A good suggestion is to order in a few platters of sandwiches/fruits/grazing food for you all to share when hungry, rather than hot foods that you have to sit down at a table to eat.

The Dance of the Bumlebees

The dance is about two bumblebees who are in love with each other, and show us the beauty of their movement when searching for pollen. The male and female dancers wear different costumes, with the female clad in a traditional costume, which is covered in gold and has a long, shear scarf to serve as her wings. The male dancer wears a similar fabric, which is arranged differently so that i trails behind him.

The story tells us about love and partnership, which makes it a great choice of entertainment for any wedding in Bali.

Fire Dance

Immerse your evening with a fire dance performance, which typically features four dance over a 10-minute show. The remarkable performance features skilled artists who masterfully manipulate fire, performing intricate dances that blend tradition with exhilaration.

Mixing traditional Indonesian ethnic music and dance with modern electronic dance and chill-out rhythms, a fire dance performance presents an appealing cultural exchange between the east and the west. Performances represent a live blend of music, consumes, and dance, impressing audiences of all ages and interests
